AForGeN is a network of scientists from Europe and the US who share an interest in the genetic resources of high mountain forests. The aim of the network is an intensive exchange of information and the development of a cross-border research network for the study of adaptation processes in alpine forest ecosystems.
TREES are the main components of most alpine ecosystems, and provide habitats for a variety of macro- and micro-organisms. Therefore, AForGeN believes that cultivating an understanding of the genetic and genomic mechanisms of these trees is of critical importance.
