Prof. Jens-Christian Svenning is the Director for the Center for Ecological Dynamics in a Novel Biosphere (ECONOVO) at the Department of Biology, Aarhus University. He is a macroecologist & biogeographer, conducting research that spans a wide array of topics, including biodiversity, climate change impacts, and human-nature interactions. Prof. Svenning is particularly interested in the fundamental drivers shaping biodiversity and the application of predictive modelling and remote sensing technology to ecological and sustainability research. He is also a strong advocate for rewilding as a method for ecosystem restoration, based on a commitment to addressing the climate and biodiversity crises. He collaborates with various public and private entities on conservation, restoration, and sustainability projects, ensuring that his research has tangible societal benefits.
