HealGenCAR is happy to announce its workshop in cooperation with EVOLTREE with focus on the development of better ash material in the light of ash dieback disease using new and old tools.
European ash forests are being decimated by the invasive pathogenic fungus Hymenoscyphus fraxineus throughout Europe. Inherited differences in tolerance level among ash trees of the natural gene pool suggest that methods may be obtainable to acquire better material of ash for future forests. The specific aim of the workshop is to bring together people with special interest in the improvement of European ash challenged by the pathogen Hymenoscyphus fraxineus.
The meeting will include scientific indoor sessions in the mornings where we will exchange ideas on how to test, breed and develop markers and other methodologies to assist breeding of healthy ash. In the afternoons we will visit specific sites of interest.
