I would like to thank EVOLTREE for providing the travel grant to attend XX International Botanical Congress in Madrid 21-27.07.2024. In addition, I also participated in the Nomenclature Section of the International Botanical Congress (IBC) in Madrid 14-19.07.2024 as a member of International Association for Plant Taxonomy (IAPT).
IBC is the largest scientific event in botany which is held every six years (this year there were almost 3000 participants) and therefore provides a good opportunity to meet colleagues from all around the Globe and establish new contacts.
At IBC2024 in Madrid, I presented two posters:
During the Nomenclature Section and the IBC2024, I had a chance to meet in person with many botanists at different career stages and with different research interests (e.g., plant evolution, speciation, hybridization, polyploidy, rediploidization, conservation, nomenclature & taxonomy, and many more). A special highlight for me was meeting several researchers interested specifically in birch phylogeny and taxonomy.
Besides, participation in large scientific events like IBC2024 has an additional importance for me because I am currently in a transition phase from PhD to postdoc and looking for any opportunities for further employment.
