Dr Rebecca Jordan is a Research Scientist at Australia’s national science agency, CSIRO. She is endlessly curious about how evolution has shaped genetic variation within species and what this means for adaptability and resilience to environmental change. Rebecca uses landscape genomic approaches to relate genetic variation to climate and environmental variation and to predict future responses to changing climates, with a current focus on trees. Having worked in a range of organisms, Rebecca’s current research focuses on trees and understanding adaptation and adaptability in these long-lived species. In particular, her research is directed at restoration and conservation – guiding how to source seed to create restoration plantings resilient to future climates; and how genomics could help predict vulnerability of natural populations to climate change, and highlight priority areas for conservation.
